A launch checklist helps you catch the details that are easy to miss while building a site. Work through these items before sharing the website widely.
Content and trust
- Explain what the business offers and who it serves.
- Use clear calls to action and working contact details.
- Proofread headings, prices, dates, and legal information.
- Replace all placeholder copy and sample images.
Technical checks
- Test the site on a phone, tablet, and desktop.
- Confirm HTTPS works and there are no mixed-content warnings.
- Test forms, navigation, buttons, and account links.
- Set the intended homepage and verify important permalinks.
- Check page titles, descriptions, and social-sharing previews.
Accessibility and performance
Use descriptive link text, meaningful image alt text, visible keyboard focus, and a logical heading order. Compress large images and avoid loading scripts that the page does not need.
After launch
Keep a record of the software versions, review updates regularly, and know how to restore the site from backup. A launch is the beginning of site maintenance, not the end of it.
